STRESS!!!!! I personally don’t know anyone that likes to be stressed out. Stress can temporarily paralyze you, and even leave long term health issues. Not to forget that it’s more stress being a girl/women in today’s society.
As an entrepreneur the most damaging thing you can do is stay where you don’t want to be. The fear of the unknown is a huge deterrent and can be overwhelming. Not knowing what the ending result could be or even the next step in life forces people to not make a move. The familiar and predictable lets us be comfortable-even if that predictable is not always healthy.
Now I don’t know about you, but fear and stress can also be the reason to step outside of your comfort zone. Would you rather live with the fear of not knowing what your life will be next week, or knowing that your life may never change 10 years from now?
If you woke up 10 years from now and your life was the exact same would you be satisfied? I have learn a great deal of my own comfort zone, from public speaking to making a simple phone call to leader in the community. It comes down to how much you really want that change, move, upgrade, or whatever it is.
Martin Luther King Jr. said it best “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase”. We may not be able to control what goes on around us, but we can control our actions. Don’t live a life of what ifs. You’re what if thought may be different-but in some way shape or form we all have to do the same thing. Take the first step even though you may not see the whole staircase.
I remember the time of our very first Gem session at the Tremont Jefferson library. It was a very cold and ugly day. We didn’t know what to expect as group facilitators. Even though we knew we were ready it was a feeling of “what if”. It felt as though the girls knew we were nervous, unorganized and we just felt unsure because what if they don’t like us or the program. Even with those thoughts we piggy backed off each other and the session was a success.

I was recently given a book called Yesterday, I Cried by Iyanla Vanzant. This New York Times Best Seller celebrates the lessons of living and loving. She uses her own experiences to show how situations in her life became lessons that teach as we grow, heal and learn. A great go to book for women. The Agate Gem goes hand in hand with life lessons. This stone helps expand the mind, opens up new friendship, appreciation of nature, and brings a sense of balance into one’s life.
